We get asked all the time, “how can my band play the Budweiser Pavilion?” Well, there’s a simple answer – apply! The Budweiser Pavilion gets hundreds of cover band applications each year. We evaluate every, single one looking at how long the band has been together, where the band has previously played, what kind of cover songs it plays, what kind of following the band has, what kind of social media following it has and whether or not it would be a good fit for our live music culture. So, applying is easy but selection is not!
Selected bands are paired with our stage manager previous to their appearance where stage plots and input lists can be listed, sorted and stored. When bands arrive at the Budweiser Pavilion, they load directly behind our stage area on “band alley.” Bands are able to use our air conditioned green room which is stocked with water, soda and Anheuser-Busch products. Band set up must happen during a 30-minute changeover (unless you’re the only/first band of the day), so bands are encouraged to have everything (or as much as possible) “stage ready” back stage. Once the previous band ends, the “dance” begins! The next band loads in stage left, the on-stage band loads out stage right. Trained and knowledgeable Budweiser Pavilion staff help the bands move equipment on and off our 36-foot-wide by 18-foot-deep stage to facilitate the efficiency needed to run a smooth transition. Our professional sound engineers run a quick line check and it’s show time! Bands are encouraged to take as short a break as possible to maximize performance time and keep the crowd going. When the show ends, bands can load out directly behind the stage for convenience as the next band comes on stage.
Not every band that applies is guaranteed a spot at the Budweiser Pavilion, but every band is reviewed by management and contacted once a decision is made. We strive to be transparent in our selection process and are always finding new ways to improve. One way, implemented in 2017, is the online application form which you can find by clicking HERE. It’s the best way to ensure we see your stuff and know that you’re interested. The Budweiser Pavilion does not accept text, email, Facebook or “snail-mail” applications. So if you’re interested, or know a band that would be, please direct them to the Budweiser Pavilion website and the band application page.
We look forward to reviewing great bands for our 2018 season!
